چکیده
A new two-dimensional model for blood flows in arteries with arbitrary cross sections is derived. The domain consists of a narrow, large vessel that extends along an axial direction, described by radial and angular coordinates. system balance laws conservation mass momentum the directions. equations are derived applying asymptotic analysis to incompressible Navier-Stokes moving elastic membrane, integrating direction each section. resulting hyperbolic source terms. main properties discussed positivity-preserving well-balanced central-upwind scheme presented. merits will be tested variety scenarios. In particular, simulations using idealized aorta shown. We analyze time evolution flow under different initial conditions such as perturbations steady states, which parametrizes bulging vessel’s wall. consider situations given distinct variations elasticity.

A Two-Dimensional Model of Blood Plasma Flow with Oxygen Transport and Blood Cell Membrane Deformation
Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a genetic disorder that alters the red blood cell (RBC) structure and function such that hemoglobin (Hb) cannot effectively bind and release oxygen. Our novel 2-D computational model represents a fast, time efficient method developed to analyze flow dynamics, O2 diffusion, and cell deformation in the microcirculation. A finite difference, Crank-Nicholson scheme is u...
متن کاملAn approximate model for slug flow heat transfer in channels of arbitrary cross section
In this paper, a novel approximate solution to determine the Nusselt number for thermally developed, slug (low-prandtl), laminar, single phase flow in channels of arbitrary cross section is presented. Using the Saint-Venant principle in torsion of beams, it is shown that the thermally developed Nusselt number for low-prandtl flow is only a function of the geometrical parameters of the channel c...
متن کاملA two-dimensional model for quasigeostrophic flow: comparison with the two-dimensional Euler flow
A simple two-dimensional model for quasigeostrophic flow is contrasted with the two-dimensional incompressible Euler equations. The model arises under the assumptions of fast rotation, uniform stratification and uniform potential vorticity. It is found that the more local feed-back of the quasigeostrophic model gives rise to strongly nonlinear front formation, as opposed to two-dimensional Eule...
متن کاملA New Two Dimensional Model for Pollutant Transport in Ajichai River
Accurate prediction of pollution control and environmental protection need a good understanding of pollutant dynamics. Numerical model techniques are important apparatus in this research area. So a 2500 line FORTRAN 95 version code was conducted in which using approximate Riemann solver, couples the shallow water and pollution transport agents in two dimensions by the aid of unstructured meshes...
متن کاملPULSATILE MOTION OF BLOOD IN A CIRCULAR TUBE OF VARYING CROSS-SECTION WITH SLIP FLOW
Pulsatile motion of blood in a circular tube of varying cross-section has been developed by considering slip flow at the tube wall and the blood to be a non- Newtonian biviscous incompressible fluid. The tube wall is supposed to be permeable and the fluid exchange across the wall is accounted for by prescribing the normal velocity of the fluid at the tube wall. The tangential velocity of the fl...
